1920s/Hollywood glamour look and how to

It was my friend Tasha's eighteenth birthday last Tuesday, and she had a 1920s/Hollywood glamour party to celebrate. There was gambling, drinking and a lot of loud singing (which was really fun).

I wasn't really sure how I was going to do my hair until I was getting ready, but after a quick trawl through Pinterest I decided on a faux bob. I hadn't tried it before, and I kind of improvised using several tutorials and pictures I found, but I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
I took the pictures when I got home (at around half 12) so my hair is a bit dishevelled, but it stayed up well.
In case you didn't know from previous posts, my hair is long, but I think this hairstyle would work on medium length hair too.

Basic guide to how I created my faux bob:
  1. I started off wearing my hair in a French plait for the day to get a finger-wave(ish) look, but you could curl it, or do actual finger waves if you are unfairly talented with hair...
  2. I then split my hair into a bottom and a top part, with the split starting at the tops of my ears, and clipped up the top part.
  3. Next I plaited the bottom part, and wound it into a coil on the back of my head, pinning it in place (securely).
  4. Then I took the top part of my hair which was pinned up, and tied it in a low, loose ponytail at the height I wanted my bob to be at, pulling the sides out a bit to make them look more natural.
  5. The next thing I did was to plait the hair in the ponytail, making sure not to tighten it and loose the bob shape I created earlier. I then rolled the plait under the hair that I put into a ponytail, and pinned it with the previously pinned bottom part of my hair.
  6. That's basically it, except that I pulled it out a bit more to make it look more like a bob, sprayed copious amounts of hairspray on it and put a headband over it.
